Day 103: God is Our Refuge

Refuge- shelter, or protection from danger.
Psalms 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.
Psalms 91:4
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.
Refuge for humanity is a place of shelter, a place where we can flee when in danger. We all have a safe place to go, or should have a safe place to go where we cannot be touched. Where we are unable to be harmed but nurtured and taken care of. We all need a safe place to flee when we are in harm's way.  In Numbers 35, there are six cities set aside for refuge of the manslayer. These cities were meant for people who committed murder unknowingly, or accidentally killed another person. They would flee to these cities and be safe from the one who sought to avenge the blood of the fallen. In these cities of refuge the would-be murderer was safe from all harm. He could not be touched.
David describes God as our refuge, in Him we will always find safety and security. . As we apply this idea of refuge to our lives we will come to understand that our safety is in God. It is not away from Him, it is right there under His wings. We serve a big and mighty God, and we are His children, and one thing I know for sure is that parents will go to the ends of the earth to protect their children. How much more will a father, who is outside of time, and outside the brims or limitations of this earth, how much more will He do to ensure that His children are safe and protected? There is safety in the house of God. I’m not just talking about physical safety but I mean, our souls are safe in the house of God. David knows this, that is why He says he will not fear, for He knows the God he serves is mighty to save. The honest truth is that God is after our hearts and souls and He has them in His hands, once we decide to give them to Him. However, we must also understand that there is an adversary, satan, who seeks to steal kill and destroy. He is constantly on the prowl for weak and broken souls. But if we run to God and find strength in Him, satan cannot touch us.
Proverbs 18:10 tells us that the name of the Lord is a strong tower. All we have to do sometimes is speak the name of the Lord, sometimes that enough to scare the devil away. The name of the Lord is powerful, as the song says there is power in the name of Jesus. It’s something about that name that removes all the fear away. Something about the name Jesus that makes all that is unholy and unlike Him disperse.
Then the scripture goes on to say that the righteous run to it and are safe. There it is is again. We can find safety in the Lord’s house. He is our security blanket. If we are ever looking for a safe space, the safest place is in the hand of God. There is nothing greater, no one is safer than our Lord. He is magnificent in every way. He provides our souls with refuge. When we feel we are running into trouble run to God. We we feel attacked run to God. When we have fallen into temptation, run to God. It’s never too late to run to God. Towns and cities may turn to ruins, and be destroyed but when God is our refuge there is always a place to turn.
The safe space we need is right there in the hand of God. We just have to run to Him.

Reflection/Prayer Time
Talk to God about what stood out to you today, allow Him to be that safety blanket you need. Whatever is on your heart pour it out to Him today.

I love you and I hope you have an amazing day or evening. Be sure to share this with someone and come back tomorrow for day 104!
