Day 143: Misconceptions (Part 1)

James 1:22
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Being doers of the word is about living what is says, rather than just hearing and ignoring. We know this, we know that we are to live our lives according to the bible and imitate the life of Christ. Sometimes we get so caught up in staying away from sin that we forget to really live. Being a Christian and doer of the word is not about walking on eggshells as not to sin. It is about following Christ, and living like He lived. The center of our Christian being is not based on trying not to sin. It is based on the love of God, we love God so much and we are committed to Him. With that being said, we will begin to lead a sinless lifestyle almost without trying. There are things that we will have to work a bit harder to stay away from. With that being said...
There are many misconceptions about Christians and the lifestyle we lead. This week. that is exactly what we are going to talk about. As Christians we are called to lead a certain lifestyle, a life that is sinless, fully committed and dedicated to christ. People tend to think that the lifestyle we lead is boring, that we do not have freedom, and that we are possessed or enslaved to some “higher power or being”. What if I told you it was the exact opposite? What if I told you that serving Christ has freedom written all over it. We live our lives sinless and dedicated to Him because we love Him. We are not forced to live for Christ, we choose to serve Him because we know the benefit of it. He has done so much for us, He gave His life for us, the least we can do is live for Him. I would not say we are indebted to Him because we can never pay Him back for what He has done, but what we can do is wake up every day and choose to live for Him. This is not living in bondage or according to a set of rules, it is a lifestyle we choose to lead. We are freer now than we ever were. I think Christians enjoy life more because we know the value of living. We know how to live because Christ has taught us. Many will say that the lifestyle we lead is not truly living but I beg to differ if we are not living for the very person who gave us life in the first place, are we living at all?
